Pacemaker, CRT, ICD

When there is a problem with heart rhythm, the heart beats either too slow or too irregular, leading to insufficient blood flow causing fatigue, dizziness, fainting and/or chest pain. A pacemaker helps regulate the rhythm of the heart.
Sometimes in heart failure, the two ventricles do not pump in a normal manner. A newer type of pacemaker, called a biventricular pacemaker, paces both ventricles at the same time, increasing the amount of blood pumped by the heart. This type of treatment is called cardiac resynchronization therapy or CRT.

An ICD, which is essentially a pacemaker with a defibrilator, is generally needed for those at high risk of cardiac arrest due to a ventricular arrhythmia, weak heart musccles or very fast heart rhythms.

Angioplasty / Stent

When there is a blockage in the arteries of the heart,or they become narrow due to plaque deposition, blood flow to the heart gets severely restricted, which may lead to heart-attack. A minimally invasive procedure, called Angioplasty, is carried out in such patients to widens narrowed or blocked arteries and veins through a device called stent.

A stent is a short, wire mesh tube that acts like a scaffold to help keep your artery open. There are 2 main types of stent: 1) bare metal (uncoated) stent and 2) drug-eluting stent - which is coated with medication that reduces the risk of the artery becoming blocked again. Make appointment

PDA Closure

In children under the age of 5, sometimes a birth defect (Congenital heart defect) causes oxygen rich blood to return to the lungs. If left untreated for a prolonged period, a PDA can lead to the development of pulmonary hypertension (high blood pressure in the lungs) and blood vessel damage.
PDA Closure is a minimally invasive procedure that closes the ductus arteriosus, through a procedure known as Cardiac Catheterization, in which a small metal coil or other blocking device is passed up through the catheter and placed to block blood flow. .

In babies less than 6 months of age and who have large defects, the PDA is closed by a surgical procedure through stiches.

ASD Closure

Sometimes, due to a birth defect, there is an opening in the atrial septum (the wall dividing the two upper chambers of the heart), which leads to mixing of the oxygen rich blood with the oxygen poor blood in the right atrium, resulting in pulmonary hypertension, right heart dilatation and right heart failure.
A minimally invasive procedure (Catheterization) is used to patch or plug the opening.
If the hole is too big, an open heart surgery is performed to close the hole with a patch.

PBMV

Mitral Valve Stenosis is the most common rheumatic heart disease, causing pulmonary hypertesnsion, atrial fibrillation, thromboembolism, heart failure, and if untreated, can lead to death.
Percutaneous balloon mitral valvuloplasty (PBMV) is an invasive procedure for patients with moderate or severe mitral stenosis (MS) and favorable valve morphology.

EPS & RFA

Sometimes, due to fibrosis, there are abnormal electrical impulses through the heart, leading to rapid or abnormal heart-beat.
An Electrophysiology study, or EPS is a test performed to look at how well your heart's electrical circuit is working. Based on this study, the doctor may recommend an RFA procedure
Radipfrequency Ablation (RFA) is a minimally invasive procedure, in which a catheter is inserted into the heart to destroy small areas of tissues that are causing rhythm disturbances.

TAVI/TMVI

Transcatheter aortic vlave implantation (TAVI) is a minimally invasive procedure where a new valve is inserted without removing the old, damaged valve.
Transcatheter mitral vlave implantation (TMVI) is a similar procedure for the mitral valve implantation.
The artificial valve implanted in your heart through a catheter is made of natural animal heart tissue
